Dr Nguyen returns to Forbes

Popular Forbes Medical Centre doctor, Dr Mai Nguyen, is returning to live and work in Forbes in August 2016.

Dr Mai Nguyen is an Australian trained female Doctor who grew up on the Gold Coast and completed her Undergraduate Degree at the University of Queensland.  She completed  12 months of her specialist General Practice training at the Forbes Medical Centre during 2015.

Dr Mai was very popular with patients and we are delighted that she has chosen to return to our practice to finalise her specialist GP training and join our team of Doctors.

Dr Nguyen’s return to the Forbes Medical Centre brings the number of full-time doctors available at the Centre to eleven and boosts the number of female GPs to five.

The Forbes Medical Centre has been committed to teaching Registrars for over twenty years and Dr Nguyen is the fourth Registrar who has chosen to come back to work at the practice.

Dr Nguyen and her family are excited to be returning to Forbes.

Dr Nguyen will be working full-time and will be available to see patients at the Forbes Medical Centre  from Wednesday 3 August 2016.Dr Nguyen

Skin Clinics in Forbes

Patients will no longer have to travel long distances to larger regional centres to access specialists who are trained in the management of complex skin procedures.

The Forbes Medical Centre is offering this service with visiting medical practitioner Dr Stephen Hayes. Dr Hayes sees patients at the practice once a month from Orange and provides another level of service to complement the FMC’s doctor’s skin check clinics which are conducted by Dr Somes and Dr Hemant weekly.

Dr Hayes is a general surgeon who has been practising in rural NSW for the past 28 years, Dr Hayes performs the complex excisions and procedures referred to him following skin checks conducted at the FMC – making it a one stop shop.

Forbes Medical Centre Stands out in Education

The Forbes Medical continues to strengthen its commitment to regional health services providing a unique and hands on training facility for University of Wollongong Medical students.

Tristan Scott and Shane Cameron moved to Forbes in June 2015 to complete the yearlong placement which is aimed at giving training doctors a more comprehensive and in depth knowledge about life and generalist medicine.

The placement is a part of a five year agreement between the FMC and the University of Wollongong which will see two third year medical students living and working in Forbes as part of their university studies.

No Jab, No Pay

No JAB NO PAY – Parents urged to vaccinate NOW
Parents are being reminded to ensure their children’s vaccinations are up to date following the Australian Government’s program NO JAB NO PAY coming into effect from the start of the Year.
From the 1st of January only parents with children who are fully immunised will receive the Child Care Benefit, the Child Care rebate and the Family Tax Benefit Part A end of year supplements.
