Flu Vaccines have arrived at FMC!

flu shot 2020 #2

Great news! We have received our Influenza vaccines.

We are currently working through our waiting list and contacting patients to confirm their appointment time.

If you have already put your name down don’t worry, you will be contacted very soon.

If you have not yet contacted us about your flu shot, please call us on 6851 1300 and we will add your name to our list.

Please note bookings are essential.

In keeping with social distancing requirements, we are asking patients to wait outside the building for their flu shot.

One of our nurses will call patients in to the building so that we can maintain a minimum number of people in the waiting area at all times.

Please do NOT bring other family members with you to your appointment, unless they have an appointment.

Remember, the enhanced vaccine for people aged 65 years and over can ONLY be obtained from your GP.

Those who qualify can be vaccinated for free.

All others = $15 fee payable at the time of the consultation.

FMC CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

Forbes Medical Centre remains OPEN Monday to Friday 9.00am to 6.00pm providing an essential medical service to the Forbes community during the Coronavirus pandemic.

We have appointments available EVERY DAY Monday to Friday.

Unfortunately we have had to suspend our Saturday morning clinics at this time.

Please phone us on 6851 1300 to make an appointment.

We will be asking you a few questions when you request an appointment to assess your symptoms and to see if we need to take any precautions such as providing you with a  mask or conducting your consultation via the phone rather than you coming in to the practice.

In keeping with the Government’s guidelines regarding social distancing and keeping vulnerable members of the community safe, we have implemented some changes in our practice.

When inside the practice we ask that you follow the social distancing guidelines to keep you and our staff, doctors and nurses safe.

Telephone consultations are available for patients who are in an “at risk category” and also for any patients who would prefer not to come in to the practice at this time.  This will assist in minimising the need for patients who really need to stay at home from having to make a trip out to the practice.

We are also working with the local pharmacies to facilitate home delivery of prescriptions so that at risk patients, particularly the elderly and those with a chronic health condition, do not need to leave home to get their scripts filled.  All script requests will now be managed via a consultation with a  doctor, either face to face if that is appropriate, or via the telephone.

Prescriptions will then be sent direct to the pharmacy and patients will be advised to phone the pharmacy to arrange delivery.

We encourage all members of the community to practice good hand hygiene and cough etiquette at all times.  If you are having trouble getting hold of hand sanitiser, don’t forget that good old-fashioned soap and water is the best way to keep your hands clean.

We are currently taking names for our Flu Vaccination Clinics so make sure you give us a call.  As soon as we receive our vaccines we will be confirming appointments.

Check our Facebook page for regular updates.

Stay safe.

Christmas & New Year Trading Hours

Forbes Medical Centre will be open every day except public holidays over Christmas and the New Year.

Some of our doctors and staff will be taking a well earned break over the holiday period so appointments may be limited.

Please ensure your prescriptions are up to date well before Christmas.  At least 5 days notice is required for script requests.

If your doctor is on leave you will need to make an appointment with another doctor to get your prescription.

Urgent requests for prescriptions will require a doctor’s appointment which may result in delays due to limited appointments available.

Our Saturday clinics will operate on 21 December 2019 and 4 January 2020.  There will be no Saturday clinic on 28 December 2019.

Forbes Medical Centre would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy festive season.

We would also like to thank the Forbes community for their support during 2019.
